I DREAMED IT AND IT WAS TRUE

Acrylic on wood panel - 5x7" - (C)BruceDocker,2009

My most abstract work to date, but it is still figurative in my mind. The scene is my backyard, of course. The horizontal ribbon of yellow is the fence.

THE DANCE OF THE MAENADS

Acrylic on 1/4" cherry plywood - 5x7" - (C)BruceDocker,2008

I like the connections between nature and literature, here Greek mythology. To me it 's an easy and natural association that ads interest to the painting.

I've always liked the grid setup of the roads in some sections of Kansas, every mile you come to an intersection of another road. Here you can see where the next crossroad will be by the row of trees that line it in the distance.

I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN HERE BEFORE

I joined DAILYPAINTERS.COM about one year ago. In that time I have painted over two hundred and sixty original paintings. Not a painting a day I know, but still, that's five a week. I am pleased with that output considering I work full time and have a family that I like to devote time to also.

This week I am posting all 5x14" paintings. I was intrigued by the diptych I painted a couple of weeks ago. The elongated composition is challenging for me, but I like what I've painted so far. They are still daily paintings - paintings usually done in one sitting - the painting is just twice as big.

In many rural areas of Kansas the land is sectioned off into 1 mile squares. With that the trees in the landscape angle off at 90 degrees to one another and the roads may be followed to the horizon

This old one room school house is in southeast Kansas. The owners have done a good job of keeping it up over the years. These paintings are from midday on a hot summer day.
